At Good Samaritan Preschool, we believe that children are active
learners. We provide hands-on developmentally appropriate programs
that foster a child’s development in the areas of physical,
social, emotional, cognitive, language, and spiritual growth.
All teaching at Good Samaritan is based on the following basic
principles:
- Children learn through active exploration. Our
program provides an environment that encourages children to
actively explore and manipulate materials.
- Children initiate their own learning. Classroom
environments at Good Samaritan are carefully structured into
activity centers. Children are encouraged to explore freely
while supported and guided by teachers.
- Learning comes from open-ended experiences. Children’s
imaginations, reasoning skills, and self-confidence are developed
by creative problem solving. The emphasis is on discovery and
the learning process, not merely being “right”.
- Adults are facilitators of children’s learning. Teachers
ask questions and encourage discussion. Teachers are trained
to create environments that make learning happen.
